Ranchi Regional Centre
of IGNOU is the 22nd Regional Centre of the University,
established in March 2000. In the past 6 years this Regional
Centre has expanded widely in terms of Learner Support
Network as well as enrolment.
This Centre started with 11 Learner Support Centres with
about 8000 students in 2000, and today there are 52 Centres
located in different districts. All the 22 districts of
Jharkhand State have been covered by our Learner Support
Centres, and there are many Centres at sub-district level

The enrolment in this Region has also increased rapidly.
In 2006-07 the total enrolment in different programmes
is 25591.
Academic Programmes varying from Certificate Programmes
to Postgraduate Programmes in diverse academic disciplines
ranging from literature to medicine are available in this
Region.
In this Region there are 41 DRS locations under different
categories (IGNOU, WEP, RCI, DEC, SSA). Three Satellite
Interactive Terminals (SITs) of EduSat, one at this Regional
Centre, one at Jamshedpur Study Centre and one at Hazaribagh
Study Centre have been installed and all three are functional.
This Regional Centre has taken special initiative in the
area of teacher education. More than 20000 teachers have. |

of Jharkhand in the area of health education for the competency
